CHIROPRACTIC CARE
What is Chiropractic ?
A profession that focuses on the relationship between the nervous system, the spine, and YOUR health, it can be much more than simply ‘treatment’ for your spine and other joints. Pain is the reason we see a Chiropractor in most cases, changes to the structure and moment of the spine and joints is the REASON for this pain, beyond this, maintaining correct upright posture and movement of your body daily uses more energy than nearly all the other systems of the body combined so when you're pain free and moving better it has MANY other benefits to our HEALTH.
If pain ISN'T the problem, what is? The answer is mostly that something isn't working properly, in the case of Chiropractic we look first to the joints of the spine and other parts of the body to investigate why the joints are stuck, swollen or causing pressure on nerves that contribute to CAUSING the pain or other symptoms.
First we do a full and proper investigation, often using X-rays and MRI in addition to our physical examination, we get a much better picture of why that patient is experiencing their problems and whether there is a more natural and longer term solution. Chiropractic is that profession that offers answers to these people or knows when and where to refer the patient to get the help they need.
What are the Qualifications of a Chiropractor?
There are now Chiropractic Universities all over the world, the first schools were in the USA when Chiropractic started in the late 19th Century. We now have schools in Canada, Spain, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, England, Wales, France, Italy, Germany and South Africa. In the United States alone there are 130,000 practicing Doctors of Chiropractic.
All Programs worldwide are University level education programs (and have been for several decades) involving between 5 and 9 years of study, some countries insist also on an internship which can add another year to the licensing process of a Chiropractor, in the UAE, all Chiropractic Practitioners (as they are called here) must have completed 4200hrs of education in a University and have a minimum of 4 years experience and 2 years continual practice before they are even eligible to sit the Board Examination for licensure through the Dubai Health Authority.
The education of a Chiropractor is very similar as to that of a Medical Doctor in the first 3 years with the basic sciences and anatomy and physiology, after this we concentrate more on the practical side of Chiropractic practise and our Medical Colleagues concentrate more on theirs however hours spent in the classroom itself are very similar.
Rigorously controlled National and State Registration Boards exist in most developed countries and as a result Chiropractors enjoy extremely good patient satisfaction and safety records.
